Craft & Qawali
About Our Service
Qawali Queens, a heritage project generously funded by the Arts Council and Transforming Narratives in Birmingham, was a collaboration involving Ashiana Community Project (ACP). Mona Qazi, the Cultural Development Officer at Ashiana, played a key role as the lyricist and lead vocalist.
Working alongside talented artists Sohini Alam and Sara Sufi, the initiative aimed to provide a platform for Bangladeshi and Pakistani heritage women to showcase their creative talents and actively contribute to crafting a series of songs, creative writing pieces, and performances.
We aim to tailor our services to the specific needs of the individuals and the community which we serve.

Why Choose ACP?
Under the guidance of Mona and her fellow artists, these remarkable women engaged in ten workshops, each lasting three hours per week, offered through ACP. Through these sessions, they honed their skills and prepared diligently for a spectacular finale performance featuring their songs and music.
The grand showcase took place at the renowned Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham, highlighting the incredible talent and creativity of these inspiring women from the Bangladeshi and Pakistani heritage community.
